10:14 am - [via LJ2ME]

Right now, Terr'll be getting in a taxi on the way to the station and i won't see her again for at least a few months. Of course we knew it was coming since she arrived, and in the long run it'll work out much better overall, but still. Ick.

Missing you already, love.

Ahwell, at least today's my last day of work until the 15th!

12:02 am - Give me strength, for I am human.

And as humanity said, "Give me strength, for I am human." The great overseer and caretaker of all life frowned upon them, and grumbled softly, "You deserve no such thing, for you will destroy all you touch." To which humanity replied, "Then give me speed, because I am human, your real creation." Looking with that of despondence, the great one spoke harshly, "You shall have no such thing, your impatience will cause you to be wasteful." Then, thinking deeply, humanity responded in a humble tone, "Then give me intelligence, so I may care for every living thing with my abilities of learning." To which the creator, a believer of modest and selfless statements, did agree to this. Thus humanity was granted intelligence naturally. Humanity's body is made weaker than most other creatures, it's legs, less capable of speed to flee, and to capture. It was as the creator had designed, in the essense of balance. Humanity's trickery was disguised well, and they did plot to use the intelligence to grant themselves the abilities the creator did not want them to have.

With his ability to learn, he adapted himself rein over the land. He used other creatures to sculpt it to his liking, planting food, and bringing water. The creator was pleased, and considered it unselfish that humanity wished to form the land to escape the requirements of hunting, for he also cared for the plants, and for the animals that he did use to make those changes.

After which he learned to use animals, and even the land itself to make himself faster. Using the chemicals locked away for good reason in the ground to hasten humanity's ability to travel long distances and outrun any creature made by the creator. The creator was cautiously contempative, for humanity also used the chemicals to provide protection from the elements for his creatures, and used the chemicals to create devices which helped to mend wounds. Still, the creator thought hard... deeply worried... for those chemicals were poisonous, and locked away for good reason... But the creator saw the care, and dismissed the worries it had, believing that the intelligence of humanity would lead it to properly contain the negative effects of using those chemicals. But as he suspected, with humanity's new ability for speed, humanity became impatient and wasteful. They did not care if they threw away items, or if the air was not clean, "Too much work, and to much cost."

The creator was upset, for humanity had not used it's intelligence to control the negative effects of using the chemicals. The land was becoming toxic, and filled with many items which the creator's true cleaning children could no longer break down and return to the soil. The creator then decided that humanity would require a warning, for the creator does not wish to see things destroyed in their entirety, or lives lost for mis-care. So for this warning the creator did affect the ground's steadyness, and change the season's timing. He made the storms more violent, and more frequent. Humanity, with it's intelligence, did notice that there was a problem, and after many years of abuse, they begrudgingly accepted the fact that they must remedy the problem.

So dependent upon the chemicals did they become, that they would soon have consumed all that they could easily obtain. Leaving the residue of the chemical's waste for those later to clean on their own. However with the end of the supply drawing near, they began to fight. With such a fight they required better strength than one another. Building themselves fake muscles, pinions of strength which they could flaunt. Devising ways to use that which is around them to destroy grand areas. Their demand for strength, and their impatience would lead them to create weapons which destroyed entire cities, and polluted the very soil so no thing would grow after. The creator was angered deeply. The creator's warnings were not understood, his most wise statements ignored. For humanity had twisted it's gift to give itself abilities most un-natural. Humanity had begun to show it's true arrogance, using the gift it received to grant itself that which the creator had implicitly denied.

And so the creator was deeply saddened. As his creatures and creations would slowly sink into non-existence, pushed aside as humanity grew too powerful, and too expansive. Consuming everything, and soon returning nothing. Half of humanity knew that it was behaving badly, but they could not challenge the remaining half who lived out of nescessity without thought for balance, or for care. The creator then decided what was needed to restore balance, and thus did create diseases. A plague of blackness scoured the land, infesting and killing man and animal alike, until thousands had perrished. The creator weaped with sorrow, woeful for what was unleashed, and provided a priod of tranquility. As the disease did slowly creep away, humanity became much wiser. Not in that it was at fault for such a cause, but in the fact that it adapted to prevent such events from happening again. Humanity would not hold itself accountable to the laws of nature, and the balance of equality any longer. It set itself above, and returned in full to thwart all that stood in it's way. Bringing in a new age of medicine, and cures, and preventative drugs. Humanity believed it was in control.

The creator, being most wise, had decided it would allow humanity and it's diseases to fester. Humanity's arrogance would cause it to abuse it's protective cures, and the diseases would soon be immune. Humanity's own desire to conquer death itself and extend it's life un-naturally would lead to it's own failure. Until that one day when humanity's arrogance, impatience, and destructive use of it's own strength would one day end to it's own demise. Still.. the creator sits waiting patiently, for it knows the time will come. In the end the creator feels a great saddness, for the land and it's creations will suffer so until all is gone, and the creator must then retry again.

Written by me. Full of bad grammer, bad spelling, and even some words that shouldn't be used...i am tired. hell, it's even out of time-line sync lol. But ya know... it is good =/.

02:15 am

so today i was thinking whilst walking in the rain and i though "hey! I know what would be an awesome way to punish criminals! especially murderer and such" So my thought was if you kill or rape or such then you pay back your victims or families of victims or just society at large by being useful now. As in Disected and have all your organs sold to those in need or just out there. Murderers would be completely disasembled and handed over to medicine and the money made from thier parts would be used to pay back the victims. Rapists and other lesser non death dealing criminals worthy of such things would have key organs removed. Like one of a set. Like a lung and kidney and eye and some skin and hair and part of the liver (since it grows back anyway) in the case of Rapists thier gentials would be removed and sold to those who are undergoing female to male transitions or to men that have lost thiers in accidents. the money would go to the victims.I mean hell even the normal criminal could be milked for blood if they are not diseased and drug ridden. then they provide some good to the world and the money raised goes to the people that they fucked over.

I know this is probably very controversial but it is my thought for the day.

11:57 pm - So stuffed

First, today's Ficlet. I'm kind of fond of it, even though I hate the setting and the characters, but it might be because I FEEL like I was better able to describe the setting. The picture in my mind seems a lot easier to imagine after reading it anyways.

#12: Paint )

So me and Jason spent most of the day together, went to the University to get our books for the coming semester. Set me back $356ish dollars, but thankfully, 5 of them I bought are for a year long course rather than just a single semester, mitigating some of the cost a bit. It would've cost more, since I did not buy three text books I needed for the Introduction to Buddhism course I'm taking, but since me and Jay are both in the same course he figured we'd just share books....I owe him for the price of those textbooks, I hate being a mooch ^^;

Afterwards we came back to my place and ordered some chinese food...mmm. Ordered too much; chicken balls, shrimp, wontons, lemon chicken, and an order of some form of chicken in a garlicy sauce. It was very good, but like I said, I ordered too much and I actually feel sick thinking about eating the rest. Oh well, lunch and supper for tomorrow, since I doubt my mom will be cooking supper. She's got her BF coming over. Hey she cleaned up the house, but only to further her own selfish agendas rather than doing it because she's supposed to be a responsible home owner...

Anyways, I feel like getting a head start on #13 so I'm off.

09:25 pm - Is it over yet?

Another one of those long, draggy W-days, compounded by the fact that it got hectic and busy during the last hour again.

At least the weather continues to be nice. Hope it holds for the long weekend. Or maybe I shouldn't, since I have to do indoor things...

05:07 am - It's bleeding sea-bird flavor you stupid twit!

Insomniac me! More like set to the go out at 6:00 am schedule. Weather turned stormy last night and continuing on this morning so no outing to day. Been getting ready for a trip into town for a number of things, mixing down pics, getting em cleaned up for postcards, sellers and tests. Spent a lot of time last night cleaning up pics and splicing these huge panoramas together, I'm sure they'll do well locally. I won't be doing those anymore though, it's wildly excessive usually. For instance, ArcSoft wiill do 4x4 stitches, but the set I was working with for a while was 6x3 so had to be done in two parts, and then the parts merged. Did it very well actually, here's the result, full-sized version runs around 11,000 x 3,500 (!!!)

07:58 pm - *whipcrack*

Off to the slave pits with me, there's weaving that must be finished if I can get enough light to work on it.

Other than that, the weather here has been delightful. Things are dry, and really could use a bit of rain, but the two weeks of no rain has dried the mosquitoes right up. I'm watering the garden diligently to prevent tomatoes from splitting and such like when it finally does rain.More zucchini today, and we had a salad of baby lettuces with some arugula and mustard greens that the bugs have failed to demolish so far.

03:04 pm - That's a Wrap!

Project completed! A number of us are going to the Spaghetti Factory for dinner, then a few beers, then a proper amount of sleep before I hitch up the trailer and head home!

09:53 pm - Gym and EF

A quick gym update: I did an hour of cardio training today, but no strength training since I didn't have the time for that. I got 463 + 462 = 925 kcal, though, with my performance indices being 27 and 26, which isn't bad.

Outside of that, I think I'm pretty much set for EF. I've got everything packed and taken care of; the only thing left to do now is to go to bed, get up early, pack the last few things that I can't pack today (my hair dryer etc.), and then leave for the con.

I look forward to sharing a room with [info]graafen and [info]damonblackpaw, and I also look forward to seeing everyone else, of course. ^.^

01:13 am - JUST OMG! this series is what my art wanted to be when it grew up

it is called Mononoke and no it has nothing to do with Mononoke Hime (not that i dislike anything Miyazaki has done. in fact i love Mononoke Hime -or princess mononoke if you please)

"Mononoke" continues the story of the medicine seller from the "Bakeneko" arc of "Ayakashi," as he continues to face various dangerous spirits. Which i have not yet found but will be looking for Ayakashi later and i hope the art of the series is like this one.

The art is best described as a combination of Traditional styles of Japanese art Like sumi-e and wood block printing as well as various paper techniques such as marbling and hand made papers which give texture to the background. however it also has a beautiful feeling of Klimt style art nouveau and later artist Peter Max. (both of which got a bit of thier inspiration from the arts of china and japan)

and of course Anime people being the people they are trying to post an image of this is nigh impossible so i will link to video from you tube.

this one is an AMV from the series which is awesome (and a nice song too)

09:12 pm - Debugging

Well, the Japanese beetles are still here, though I've finally made major dents in their ranks. After filling two traps with corpses, they were still chowing down heavily on my pole beans, turning the leaves into skeletal remnants. Following advice from the local Master Gardeners group, I filled a plastic container from cottage cheese about half full of hot water with a couple of drops of dish detergent in it. Then I went and held this under each infested leaf and brushed the bugs downward. They are incredibly clumsy, and usually take flight by dropping and spreading their wings until the air catches under them and lets them rise back up, flapping furiously. That means that when disturbed, they fall straight down for a foot or more. All that land in the hot soapy water sink like pebbles.

After repeating this process on two consecutive days, there are only a dozen or so beetles on the leaves tonight. There won't be new ones born until next year, and these are lame ducks who have already laid their eggs as I understand it, but they'll go on munching up my garden until the frost unless I stop them somehow. One more trip with the soapy water should pretty well take care of it.

Otherwise things are looking good. I posted a photo of the first squash harvest yesterday. Another zucchini arrived yesterday and more will be ready tomorrow. Hot peppers are blooming, tomatoes are producing green fruit furiously though none have ripened yet, beans and snow peas are blooming and starting to set fruit. I need to thin the lettuce and beets again, and use some basil before it grows into a tree.

Also debugging a new Linux installation. I emptied out my FreeBSD partition at home and loaded Wolvix into it. Since Wolvix is Slackware based, I could just add soft links to many files and applications on my existing Slackware 10.2 partition and they are working just fine. Wolvix Hunter is Slackware 11, with a v2.6 kernel, so it's a nice step up using a fairly simple install. Did the same to my desktop machine at work this morning, cleaning out the 8 Gb Windows XP partition to make way for Wolvix. I'm going to try using Wolvix exclusively for a while and see if I should just replace my older Slackware entirely. So far, it seems just fine, with the advantage of the newer kernel and a new improved version of XFCE. Besides, the pawprints and howling wolf logo are so appropriate for furry use. ;p

06:22 pm - RW/WD/Vegas: The Epic Pyramid of Fail

I got done sitting through a two-hour-long "interview" for a job at a "finacial firm" about 30 minutes ago.

If anyone's curious about why I'm using the quotations, it's because neither term is quite as it seemed.

That's not a job - it's a pyramid scheme!

I smelled a rat from the beginning, really; I'm the kind who likes to know the details of what kind of blarney someone's trying to peddle, though, so I listened for a bit. Before he was halfway through, I had already completely reverse-engineered it.

I will now tell the rest of the story with these time-tested images:
Cut for the screen-space impaired. )

12:51 am - Gym

First of all, gym for yesterday...

I did the usual stuff again - 30 minutes on the bike, plus some strength training. Cardio-wise, I got 472 kcal, which is quite nice, with a performance index of 28, which is also quite nice; certainly higher than it's been a while since I started walking to the gym again. I'm still not sure what really influences it; I suppose the cooler weather may have played a role, but then, it hasn't been very hot in a while already, so...

Strength training-wise, I took my therapist's advice and enlisted spotters for bench pressing this time, every time. After the usual back extension exercise (3x15), I first tried 35 kg; I managed to do 23 repetitions there, which really is quite a lot, so I moved up to 40. And I've gotten better at that, too - I got 13, then 12, and finally 11, each without the last repetition that I couldn't really do anymore and where I needed (lots of) help. 40 kg still isn't much, but... well, you can't rush these things. It's not like I really care about huge loads, anyway (I don't need to be able to go into the three-digit figures, for examples), but being able to lift 60 or 70 kg would be nice. Well, we'll see.

After that, I used the vertical row (45 kg, 4x15), then went to the shoulder press; I started with 25 kg again (1x15), but then went a bit higher (30 kg) and managed 3x15 repetitions. Considering that I started with 20 kg and that I was just able to do 12 repetitions each with that in the beginning, it's also an improvement. :) Of course, I've seen other people push 100 kg there - but then, the same as with bench pressing applies here, too.

I also went a bit higher on the triceps press - after 1x15 at 45 kg, I did 3x15 at 50 kg. It's quite a difference, though (although that goes for all devices - you'd think 5 kg more isn't a big deal, but it is). After that, I used the pull-over machine (55 kg, 4x15, as usual), and then the rowing torso; I went up to 30 kg there, and did manage to do 4x15, but it was quite difficult.

Finally, on the arm curl device, I actually had to go down with the weight I was using - but I think I hadn't positioned my arms the right way so far, so maybe it's to be expected. Anyhow, I first tried with my regular 25 kg, and managed 15 repetitions (non-alternating), but it was already very difficult; alternating, I only managed 8, so I went down to 20 kg and did 15 repetitions each way again.

Sometimes, the differences in the weights I can use on the different machines are quite surprising, but I guess that's the way things are.

As for today...

Today, I did 30 minutes on the bike again, of course; I got 466 kcal, which is decent, but my performance index dropped to 25 (in other words, my pulse apparently went quite high). I suppose it may have to do with the fact that some idiots closed the window behind me which I had opened, but I can't say for sure.

Strength training-wise, it was a "legs" day, but a relatively short one. I used the rotary calf machine (55 kg, 4x15), and also adjusted my seat position there a bit; after that, I went to the standing gluteus device, but I only did 2x15 for each leg today (at 80 kg again, like last time - quite a bit more than the 65 kg I was usually using up to now, but I just noticed that that wasn't enough anymore), not feeling up to more.

After that, I used the sitting leg curl R.O.M. machine (60 kg, 10°-100°, 4x15) and the leg extension R.O.M. (40 kg, 0°-100°, 4x15). The latter, which works out the quadriceps, is still quite painful really, but I guess that just means that I need to exercise my quadriceps more. c.c

Finally, I also used the adductor machine, and also went a bit higher there as well - after 1x15 at 45 kg, I did 3x15 at 50 kg. It's really quite amazing; I only started using that one 2 weeks ago, with 30 kg, and my adductor muscles really hurt afterwards, but now they seem to have gotten quite used to being used. Anyhow, after this, I also used the abductor, of course, at 55 kg again (4x15). Also quite an improvement compared to two weeks ago.

Anyhow, that's it. I hope this was a little less boring than the "numbers dump" posts now, although I've got to admit it also took quite a bit more time to write, so I'll probably have to find some middle ground there. c.c Well, not that taking 20 minutes to write a post is necessarily a problem, but I think this one's already pretty repetitive, and future gym posts would be even more so - there's only so much variation you can put into them.
